Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean your garden has to be blue!  There are many winter flowers and plants that will make your outdoors feel like a sunny day.

Plant different shades and textures of miniature evergreens and shrubs in pots.  Plants like Jean’s Dilly,   Juniper, Sicilian Sunshine and Lysmachia will give a bold green punch to your deck.

Pansies and violas are always great for cold weather. They come in a variety of colors and will last until early summer.

Kale

Ornamental cabbages are awesome plants that come in many different varieties, ailment textures and colors. They are also edible, though may not taste too good!! Ornamental kale looks great planted directly into the ground, or in pots, bringing stunning hues of purple, cream and green to your flowerbeds and patios. It will last through the winter until the weather starts to heat up again, but it doesn’t like drastic changes in weather conditions from one day to the next.

Primula

The Primula (Primrose) is a beautiful hardy winter flower that will add vibrant color to your garden!  These flowers will keep blooming until early summer.

So knock down the winter chill by adding a little warmth to your garden with colors, texture and beauty.
