Quick Holiday Candy  - Microwave Pralines Recipe

Microwave Pralines!?! Yes, and it's soft and creamy and cooks in less than 8 minutes!


I like to have little gift bags of these ready for neighbors and friends who drop by during the holidays. Everyone looks forward to my delicious gift, and since I found a quicker way to make them, I'll never make them the traditional way again!



1 cup sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1 (14oz) can of sweetened condensed milk

1/2 stick butter

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup pecans


Prepare for cooling by buttering the bottom of an 8 x 11.5 inch pan or spreading out two sheets of wax paper. Set aside for later.


In large Pyrex or microwave bowl, mix sugar and salt together. Add condensed milk and butter.

Place bowl with mixture in microwave on high power:

1. Microwave for 3 minutes then mix for 30 stirs

2. Microwave for 2 minutes. Mix again for 30 stirs.

3. Microwave once more for 2 minutes. It should start turning golden brown in the center.

    Time varies depending on the strength of your microwave so you may need more or less time.

    If the center is not browning, microwave for another minute.

5. Take out and add 1 cup pecan and 1 tsp vanilla. Mix well until mixture is a smooth even color.

6 Pour and spread into buttered pan or drop tablespoonful balls on wax paper.


If using a pan, let the candy set for 10 minutes to get a little stiff, then use a sharp knife to cut into 24 pieces. Let cool another 5-10 minute then carefully slide pieces out with a butter knife or spatula.
